Crafty Chats #1

It’s been just over a month since I started this blog and I am genuinely humbled to see that almost everyday several people out there in the world have been taking the time to read my posts! Although this is my creative outlet and a place to share my crafty creations, I would also like it to become a more traditional community-based type of blog. More of a two way conversation, where like-minded crafty individuals can connect and share creative ideas and inspire each other!
Hence the name of this post – Crafty Chats! I intend for this to be an ongoing series of posts where I share my thoughts and aspirations (with a focus on crochet and crafts of course!). Not sure yet whether I will post a crafty chat every Friday or perhaps every first Friday of the month – we’ll see what happens 🙂
I wanted to take the opportunity to share a little bit more about myself. My name’s Steffi and I’m based in the Mediterranean – sweltering in the sun and enjoying plenty of beach days at the moment! I’m also a wife and mother of two kids and a slightly crazy but very cute dog.

A few years ago during lockdown, I found myself really needing some sort of hobby or creative outlet to help cope with the extraordinary situation the world was in. My grandmother had actually taught me some very basic knitting as a child so that’s the first thing that came to mind. Of course I googled knitting and while scrolling I accidentally came across the wonderful world of crochet! No shade to knitting by any means 🙂 I would definitely love to pick it up again someday too.
Before that day I had always associated crochet with old-fashioned doilies for some reason… I was so intrigued to discover the versatility of crochet. You can make literally anything… blankets, clothes, scarves, hats, soft toys, hair accessories, bags and so much more, the list is endless! I quickly ordered a couple of hooks and some yarn and taught myself to crochet with the help of the many amazing free crochet blogs, patterns and Youtube videos. Once I got the hang of it, I soon started experimenting and designing my own patterns! And I haven’t stopped since.
I feel like I’m rambling on a little now 🙂 So I’ll stop here for today. Will finish off this post by sharing a sneak peak of the projects that I’m working on behind the scenes – I’m excited to share these with you in the coming weeks and months! In the meantime I wish you well and please don’t be shy to drop me a comment below or contact me via email or social media if you see something that you like (or don’t like – constructive criticism is welcome too), you’ve crocheted one of my patterns or simply want to say hello!
Wish you all a lovely weekend from my end of the world to yours!
