Crochet Country Headband
These Country Headbands are made with the same modern alternative to the granny stitch which I had used to make my Cosy Seasons Scarf. I had really enjoyed working up the scarf and I thought this modern granny stitch would be perfect to make a couple of quick and simple headbands! In this version of the modern granny stitch, the double crochet clusters are worked into the middle double crochet stitch of the row below, rather than into the spaces between the clusters.
I used DK yarn to make these headbands – for one I used some light brown acrylic yarn from my stash (no brand this time) and also some leftover Drops Extra Fine Merino yarn in the colour Heather. Both yarns worked up well and I believe that you can probably use any DK weight yarn for this project! These Country Headbands are worked in the round and have only 5 rounds in total – so quick to make!

Materials:
- For these headbands I used Drops Extra Fine Merino yarn in colour Heather and a brown acrylic DK yarn – any DK weight yarn should work
- Size H and G (5.00mm and 4.00mm) crochet hooks
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Pattern notes:
- ch – chain
- st – stitch
- sl st – slip stitch
- sc – single crochet
- dc – double crochet
- sk – skip
Written in US terminology.
Headbands are worked in rounds and measure about 51cm (20 inches) in circumference. Size may vary slightly depending on type of yarn, hook and tension used.
Pattern:
With the H (5.00mm) hook, ch 79, join with a sl st into the first st and ch 1.
Round 1: Sc across the round and join.
Round 2: Ch 3, 2dc in next st (the ch 3 counts as a dc st), *sk 2 sts, 3 dc into the next st, repeat from * around. At the end of the round leave the last 2 sts unworked and join to the ch 3.
Rounds 3 – 4: Repeat round 2 – the 3 dc clusters are worked into the middle dc st of the clusters in the round below. At the end of round 4, join and ch 1.
Round 5: Using the G (4.00mm) hook, sc across the round, join and fasten off. Weave in the ends.
